I saw you once, with a smile on your face and love in your eyes. A memory I seem to have replaced. Now all I see your hand opened up, lost grip of mine. I repeat the scene a thousand times. What is a vow with no meaning at all? Just promises full of holes. And we meant it I swear that we meant it, we did. Sometimes we don’t even know what it means. All I see is you slide off the ring and it’s pieces of you and it’s pieces of me. We’re not at fault, yet we both share the blame. ‘Til death do us part is a difficult thing. (I’ll never get it back). ’Til death do us part, ‘til death did us in. And I’ve figured it out, got it down to a tee. I’m afraid that my failures will turn into me. (I’ll try to reverse these words a thousand times. I cannot rewind.) I’ve figured it out, I’ll go numb to it all. What is a vow? What is a promise? Should we even make it if we can destroy it? Should we just fight or should we just give in? Is it worth fighting if we’re already losing? Are we just losing? I’ll never get it back. As you took off the ring, I lost a part of me.
